The Basis of Tarot Cards
Tarot cards are a set of cards made up of
twenty-one trump cards, the fool, and an extra face card per suit, in addition to the usual suit cards found in ordinary playing cards. Tarot is played as a game in Europe but in the US and English-speaking countries, it is used for divination purposes. When used for divination of the future, the cards total 56 cards called the minor arcana and 22 cards that make up the major arcana. The cards can be used to determine one’s psychological profiles.
Card interpretations vary depending on where the interpretation is being done. The minor arcana cards have astrological interpretations that can be used to indicate different things throughout the year. They are based on the Octavian calendar and the court cards might signify different people in a tarot reading.
